NYFW Highlights

One of our favorite things about fall is the semi-annual New York Fashion Week. Originating back in 1943 when it was known as “Press Week“, it revolutionized American fashion in a period when the industry wasn’t able to travel to Paris during World War II. As time went on, magazines like Vogue began to feature less French designers and more American designers.

Today, it’s an international event included in the top 4 major fashion weeks in the world among Paris, London, and Milan, and it gives many of us a glimpse of the upcoming Spring 2016 fashion trends to hold onto for the cold and miserable winter months ahead. So to make it easy, we’ve highlighted our favorite looks.

But first, to help get a sense of the NYFW vibe, check out some Street Style.

It’s kind of a big deal.

OK, let’s get on with the highlights.

BCBGMAXAZRIA stayed rustic and authentic with their accessories. Tribal tones combined with the eco-touristic impression left behind is a major crowd pleaser.

LAUREN CONRAD stayed true to her roots, with a breezy laguna beach feel. We also love the princess element to this line – the soft pinks and corals.

IDAN COHEN nailed it with these dreamy, boho cut outs.

TOMMY HILFIGER is on island time. His eternal sunshine feel is sure to put everyone at ease this coming Spring and Summer and maybe even transform you into a Caribbean queen. Anyone for some rum punch?

MAIYET featured all the models in thick heeled suede shoes.

CAROLINA HERRERA held her show at the Frick Collection museum and it was the perfect setting to display her timeless line.

And our top highlight, out of courage, confidence, and appreciation, was Madeline Stuart’s runway debut. She’s an 18-year-old Australian model with Down Syndrome and a leaky heart valve.

Hopefully these highlights have given you some inspiration to start planning your wardrobe so you can greet the warm Spring weather in style. Because remember everyone:

Happy Shopping!
