Friday Feature: Bonsai Boy

Bonsai Boy of New York is a highly successful family owned business that has been growing and selling bonsai trees since 1993. Sprouted from a personal passion for the ancient art of bonsai growing, Bonsai Boy became a hit by first selling out at fairs and craft shows, then eventually malls, and now worldwide online. They literally started from the bottom.

But what’s a bonsai tree? Well, they’re basically just tiny trees grown in pots. Some flower, some bear fruit, (like the cutest bananas you’ve ever seen) and some are just awesome to look at. In Japanese, a “bon” is a tray-like pot that bonsai trees are grown in and their original purpose was for amusement and wonder for the viewer and as a fulfilling exercise of ingenuity for the grower. They symbolize harmony, honor, patience, and happiness among friends and family.

And the best part is that Bonsai Boy is committed to doing business in the most environmentally sustainable way (just like us!) Every single delicate living bonsai tree is carefully shipped using the least amount of packaging possible. From impressive Junipers, Spruces and Cedars to flowering trees like Lavender Star to fruiting trees like Key Lime, (yum!) Bonsai Boy has a great selection of miniature trees, accessories, and even beginner growing kits.

Happy Growing!
