Essential Items to Bring to Comic-Con

If you ask con-goers what they typically bring to a convention, you’ll get a wide variety of answers. Of course there are many fan-dominated events happening this time of year besides the the extravagant SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) or Miami’s Super-Con, so that’s a factor when deciding what to bring. And if you’re dressing up as your favorite character or superhero (also known as cos-play), your costume is probably number one on the list! But since we have quite a few con-fans at the Yroo office, we asked them what the most essential items to bring to any convention and here’s what they said:

1. Hand Sanitizer

Bottles of hand sanitizer.

Protect yourself from the notorious “con-flu”.

2. Portable Phone Charger

Assortment of colorful portable phone chargers.

Snap and share as many photos as you can without having to worry about your battery life. Such an amateur mistake.

3. Money

Might wallets.

This seems obvious, but TWO people on our team have forgotten their wallets at previous conventions. Our advice? Get a super trendy, strong, and eco-friendly Mighty Wallet and you might be less likely to leave it behind.

4. A Backpack

Moschino backpack with Super Mario style.

Stay hands-free by shoving everything you don’t want to carry around in a backpack. Check out some nifty brands like Moschino that would definitely be con-appropriate!

5. Your Badge

Comic-con badges.

Again, an obvious item to bring, but sometimes the most obvious are the most forgotten.

6. Deodorant

Men's deodorant brands.

Ok so let’s just be honest, these conventions are packed with a whole bunch of excited human bodies. And just because you spend most of your time in a damp basement does NOT mean you have to smell like one!

7. Makeup and Sewing Kit

This is absolutely key if you are planning to cos-play.

8. Sharpies

Rainbow of sharpie markers.

Don’t be the person asking to borrow a sharpie every time you want an autograph.

9. Water

Dehydrated man drinking water in the desert.

You should probably keep yourself alive while you’re there.

10. A Positive Attitude

Neon sign that says "OPEN" in someone's head.

It’s important to take deep breaths, even when you’re again, in a sea of excited human bodies. Maybe that sea is filled with superheros, Sailor Moons and Princes Leias lining up for the bathroom, and you REALLY have to go. But just remember that Comic-Con is like camping, or going to a music festival. It’s best to keep an open mind!

Now go out there and have fun! Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

Happy conning!
